Frankenstein's Cat

Here is a group picture of all the recurring characters from the Franks Cat series we did for Mackinnon and Saunders and the BBC.

  1. Wow that looks great!

May I ask what is your primary tool for making this?

  2. I loved this series. It was so beautifully drawn and designed. More please!!

  4. Thank you both.
Well it was animated in flash then each character was outputted separately as each had its own compositing settings in after effects (paint effects etc). Then in after effects the animation and lighting effects were put together on the backgrounds which were drawn on paper cleaned up with pen then coloured and textured in Photoshop. Each back ground usually had both a daylight and nighttime colouring so double the work. We worked with a company in France to do this series. Each episode took 2 weeks to storyboard, a week animatic then 2 weeks to animate and do the backgrounds then a week to composite. But whilst your also doing that you are doing amendments on previous episodes, doing preproduction on later episodes etc.
It was fun, but we had a very good crew.

  5. cool, you were the ones who did this! O loved this cartoon!!!
    I'm following you now.
